AP — Protesters wearing the colors of both Harvard and Yale staged a sit-in at midfield of Yale Bowl during halftime of the th edition of the annual football rivalry known as The Game. Most walked off after about an hour with a police escort; about who remained were arrested. Other signs referred to Puerto Rican debt and the treatment of the Uighurs. Between 20 and 30 people were arrested, released and given a court date, protest organizers said.
Rachel Sadoff, a junior at Harvard, said about students from the two universities planned to participate and about more who had been sitting in the stands joined in. Ho Ho! Fossil fuels have got to go! Police in yellow vests lined up alongside the sit-in but did not intervene. When the minute halftime expired and the protest continued, hundreds more fans streamed onto the field to join in.
Posted by Cindy Jung Mar 30, Campus. I do, because there is something upsetting about the idea that Harvard guys would outsource their party guests, affirming the cultural reality where the Harvard name works against women in social contexts. But I also acknowledge that there is no legitimate reason for my cynicism toward guys—or anyone—inviting people from outside of Harvard to its social events.
Harvard University has banned professors from having sexual relationships with, or dating, undergraduate students, joining an increasing.
Having a consistent, labeled relationship is not for everyone. According to Dr. Why waste time building a relationship when we can get what we need or at least finish stat homework on time without the untidiness of feeling? Moreover, social avoidance and compartmentalization are a part of the campus culture. The demands of psets, clubs, sports, and friends do not always allow for extra time in the murky world of dating.
Committing to a single person is also giving up the opportunity to speak or interact with others—our beloved networking is lost when we dedicate ourselves to only one pursuit. Choosing to make our academic and social lives mutually exclusive may be the simplest path, but is it the one we should choose? No one can work all day without some detriment to their health and even their academic progress.
Because relationships are the most common cause of our strongest positive emotions , they can provide a truer, fuller experience despite any accompanying uncertainty. It is said that the most valuable experiences at Harvard often take place not in the classrooms learning from venerated professors but from time spent with peers. Casual friendships are easier to come by, but relationships can offer deep emotional support and experience.
Refusing to take that risk because of scheduling or potential failure is to forget how this time spent can benefit our mental health and even academic performance. For dating on this campus, breaking the Harvard mold may be worth it.

Amid growing concerns about the potential spread of coronavirus, colleges across the country are telling students to go home. Harvard University, in Massachusetts, was one of a rapidly growing number of colleges that announced on Tuesday it would transition from in-person to online instruction and ask students to depart campus in an effort to help contain the spread of the new coronavirus, which causes a respiratory illness known as COVID Harvard instructed students not to return after spring break, which starts this weekend, and said students would complete their coursework remotely “until further notice.
Other colleges that made major announcements about changes to the academic schedule on Tuesday include Berea College, a Kentucky institution where tuition is free and where every student works in a campus job. The move comes as the Obama administration investigates the handling of accusations of sexual assault at dozens of colleges, including Harvard. The ban clarifies an earlier policy that labeled sexual and romantic relationships between professors and the students they teach as inappropriate, but did not explicitly prohibit professors from having relationships with students they did not teach.
Besides banning sexual and romantic relationships between professors and all undergraduates, the policy also bans such relationships between teaching staff, such as graduate students, and the students who fall under their supervision or evaluation. It says that intimate relationships between students and professors make consent hard to determine because of the unequal power dynamic, and leave institutions vulnerable to allegations of sexual harassment. After the courts found in the s that universities could be financially liable for sexual harassment, many institutions — among them, the University of California and Yale — adopted formal policies forbidding sexual or romantic relationships between faculty and students.
Between 20 and 30 people were arrested, released and given a court date, protest organizers said. Rachel Sadoff, a junior at Harvard, said about.

Many other schools in Massachusetts and across the country are in similar positions. The effect — perhaps even the goal—is to create chaos for schools and international students alike. In the suit filed in US District Court in Boston, the institutions seek a temporary restraining order that would put the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement directive on hold for 14 days. The universities asked the federal court to schedule a court date today. Students overseas seeking to come into the country or those already issued those visas would not be allowed into the country to take online courses here.
ICE has not replied to requests for comment on the lawsuit. MIT has a little over 3, students with F-1 visas, including students on a visa called optional practical training, which allows them to work here 12 months before and after completing their academic studies. The university is awaiting newly admitted students for the fall semester that have not yet come to the United States.
Unspoken, but unmistakable, is one more question: Am I welcome? Rafael Reif, himself an immigrant from Venezuela, in a message to students. The schools said there are concerns that some students could face risk of arrest or other persecution if they were deported to their home countries because of their sexual orientation and gender identity.
The universities said students attempting to remote learn in their home counties could face issues with restricted internet access, internet firewalls imposed by their countries, and social unrest. The schools said the new policy could prevent students from recouping the cost of airline tickets.

When a woman at Harvard Business School breaks up with her boyfriend, it’s cause for celebration. You had to bat them away. While a much-buzzed New York Times report about gender equity or lack thereof at HBS suggested that female students were meek members of the school’s dating culture, worrying that “seeming too ambitious” would hurt their romantic prospects, recent HBS graduates say male students were equally keen to finding lasting love among the future Sheryl Sandbergs and Mike Bloombergs of America.
More often than not, because there were more guys than girls, they were more frustrated. Still, through shades of Princeton Mom , the Times piece spotlighted Neda Navab, a HBS graduate who chose a group date at an Ethiopian restaurant over prepping for an important class the next day, a dicey decision she explained was rooted in a fear that HBS could be her “last chance among cream-of-the-crop-type people. It’s almost a perfect dating experiment.
Of course I thought, ‘This is an excellent place to try and find someone. As for the suggestion that ambitious HBS women would turn off their male romantic prospects the Times quoted one male subject as commenting on a female classmate: “She’s kind of hot, but she’s so assertive” , Neil said it was quite the opposite. Neil dated at HBS, but didn’t find a serious girlfriend. Maybe, as Lisa points out, because many of the limited number of women were “taken.
